A Trip to Wolf Mountain

I have never been a very good snowboarder. Probably because I hate being cold and that is just something that comes along with snowboarding. I told Jeff I wanted him to teach me how. He is basically a pro at it and I figured there really was no one better for this difficult job. Jeff thought it would be really fun to take Heidi with us and so we decided to go night boarding at Wolf Mountain. Going at night is a lot cheaper and I think more reasonable, although you don't get the sun like you do in the day.

The first run was a little scary. I had no idea what I was doing, Jeff had to help me with the bindings, I couldn't stand up on my own, I basically felt like I was worse than the 4 years olds zooming past me, carving away. In a way, those 4 year olds motivated me. I kept thinking to myself, "If these kids who just barely learned to walk a few years ago can snowboard and not fall down, surely I can do it too." So, after help from Jeff in standing up on my board, I let go of my fears and I went down the hill. The first run was slow, no doubt about that, but every run after that got better and better. By my last couple of runs I was carving a little bit myself and was able to go down the hill, no problem.

On one of the runs, just Heidi and I went up and it had started snowing. I forgot how incredibly peaceful the snow can be. I felt so happy and content on that lift (kind of surprising since I am mildy scared of heights) and I absolutely enjoyed going down the mountain that time. The snow is so beautiful and I love when it is falling slowly around you and you kind of feel like you are in a movie and there is a camera catching the beauty of it all. Well, there wasn't a camera, but it felt like if there was it would have been a really great scene. I love the mountains and their mountainous glory.

I have to say, those little children are brave! I don't know how they do it, but for sure my little kids are going to be snowboarding because they just look so cute out there on those mini boards with the snow falling around them.

After hating the cold for so long, I think I could learn to like it a little bit. I had such a fun time snowboarding with Heidi and Jeff and I cant wait to go again on "10 Buck Tuesday"! We have already committed to going at least one more time... I hope it is more than that.

Heidi is a pro!
Me and Heid putting our bindings on after getting off the lift. P.S.: The dismount off the lift....now that is a trick I have yet to figure out!

so fun! That is one thing I have missed this season is skiing. My favorite part is eating lunch, ummm... chili cheese fries! I've never tried snowboarding, looks hard but fun.
